Hsiao Ya-Hsin |
Hsiao Ya-Hsin, born in 1982 in Chiayi, Taiwan, specializes in oil and acrylic painting. Her work explores spatial depth and spiritual experience through layered brushstrokes and transparent colors. By integrating natural landscapes with inner memories, she creates a visual tension that conveys movement and ascension.
She graduated from the Department of Art Education at Hsinchu Teachers College (2005) and earned a Master of Arts from National Hsinchu University of Education (2008). She later pursued further studies, becoming a Ph.D. candidate at the Tainan National University of the Arts, Institute of Art Creation and Theory (2019), and obtaining a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Tainan Theological College and Seminary (2020).
Ya-Hsin has engaged in creative travel in Australia and participated in artist residencies at the Vermont Studio Center (USA), the Babayan Culture House (Turkey), and the Can Serrat Art Residency (Spain), developing landscape and installation-based works.
Her paintings defy traditional perspectives, using layered colors and brushwork to construct a profound yet balanced sense of space. Organic lines reminiscent of angel wings frequently appear in her work, evoking a sense of lightness and transparency. Through her art, she continues to explore the interplay between space, faith, and memory.
