Up/Down/Space
2016, on site installation

Have you ever wondered what lies above you, and what lies beneath
I love climbing high, but I'm afraid of the dark.
A curve must be the most beautiful line in the world.

| The Sacred Space That Hides Itself |
In 2014, thanks to a friend who was an artist-in-residence, I first entered No. 29 of the 321 Art Alley Settlement in Tainan. Since then, I’ve often visited or stayed in this 86-year-old house (in human years), as if living inside the body of an elder—sometimes listening to her tell stories, sometimes hearing her sing. In the mornings, the house is filled with birdsong, and then comes the dusk.
There’s also a secret space here: a hidden area between the closet and the sloping roof.
I use this upper space as a source of imaginative exploration in my painting practice and as a metaphor for delving into inner dimensions. Through on-site installation, I enter into a dialogue with this space—quiet, mysterious, and full of stories waiting to be discovered.
